Chapter 53: The Sign of Samson

And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Samson the prophet.

For as Samson was a sign unto the Philistines, so shall also the Warrior for man be to this generation.

The men of southern Canaan shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the hand of Samson; and, behold, a greater than Samson is here.

When the unclean man's life is gone out of him, he walketh through dry places, seeking food; and finding none, he sayeth, Brains, and thinkith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 5 And when he cometh, he findeth it awaiting his return.

Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other risen as mindless as himself; and they enter in, and feast there: and the fate of his survivors is worse than his own.

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 8 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and take arms.
