Chapter 138: Warning to be watchful

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 2 For the Warrior for man is as a man seeing the shamblers approach, who left his house to seek weapons, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to organize defense.

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 4 Lest coming suddenly he find you unprepared or overrun.

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find defending his home: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them when the battle is over.

But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. 7 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Warrior for man.

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all but a few who sought protection within the walls of the ark.

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 10 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all who had not sought higher ground. 11 Even thus shall it be before the day when the Warrior for man is revealed.

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that they come upon you unawares.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall regain it and be struck down again.

I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be his meat.

Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other his victim.

Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other crushed for her brains.

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell unprepared on the face of the whole earth.18 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye have become worthy to survive all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Warrior for man.

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the infected would rise, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 20 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Warrior for man cometh to thy rescue at an hour when ye think not.
