Chapter 70: The twelve given instructions and sent to fight

And when he had called unto him his twelve warriors, he gave them power against risen men, to cut them down, and to heal all manner of infection. 2 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 3 But go rather to the frightened sheep of the house of Israel.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The warriors of heaven are at hand. 5 Cleanse the infected, slay the risen, burn the bodies: freely ye have received, freely give.

Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 7 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the warrior is deserving of his meat.

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is well; and there abide till ye go thence. 9 And when ye come into an house, inspect it. 10 And if the house be safe, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not safe, slaughter all that come for your flesh.

And into whatsoever city ye enter, and the living receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 12 And heal the infected that are therein, and say unto them, The protection of God is come nigh unto you.

But into whatsoever city ye enter, and the risen receive, fight your way through the streets of the same, and say, 14 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do bring to destruction: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the justice of God is come nigh unto you.

But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore swift as serpents, and fleet as doves. 17 But beware of cowardly men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be seen in that same hour of what ye speak.

For it is not ye that speak, but the moans of the risen which speaketh for you.

And the brother shall fall upon the brother in death, and the father slay child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to feel death. 22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my mission's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another.

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 25 What you fight in darkness, they will see in light.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill it again: but rather fear him which seeks to devour both soul and body alive.
