Chapter 69: Jesus in Galilee

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is our defender. 2 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? 3 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? 4 So there was a division among the people because of him. 5 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him for fear of his sword.

Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

The officers answered, Never man fought like this man.

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also cowards? 9 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees shown fear of him? 10 But this people who knoweth not they are cursed should fear only the law.

Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) 12 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no righteous defender.

And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 15 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. 16 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

And he could there train none, save that he laid his hands upon a few infected, and healed them. 18 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the sword, and healing the infected among the people. 20 But when he saw the multitudes of risen approach, he was moved with compassion on the people, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Then saith he unto his warriors, The harvest truly is plenteous for the rats in the corn; 22 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth soldiers into his harvest.
