Chapter 44: Why do the warriors cut corn on the sabbath?

The Bacon Gospels -- Buy 'em!

1 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his warriors began, as they went, to cut the stalks of corn.

2 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

3 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he was at war, he, and they that were with him?

4 How he went through the fields of Abiathar the high priest, and did cut down wheat, which is not lawful to cut but for the priests, and saw that there were no enemies hiding therein?

5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple protect the ark, and are blameless?

6 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man to live, and not man to die for the sabbath: 7 Therefore the Warrior for man is Lord also on the sabbath.
