Chapter 42: Why does Jesus eat with sinners?

The Bacon Gospels -- Buy 'em!

1 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. 2 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

3 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

4 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his warriors, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

5 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that live need not a mortician; but they that die. 6 I came not to judge the righteous, but to raise an army and drive darkness to darkness.

7 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy warriors fast not?

8 And Jesus said unto them, Can the bridegroom defend the bride with an empty belly? but the days will come when the bridegroom is taken from them, and then shall they fast from fear.
