Chapter 28: Rules of watchfulness

Moreover when ye feast, be not, as the gluttons, of a swollen belly: for they disfigure their bodies. Verily I say unto you, They shall receive their reward. 2 But thou, when thou feast, do so for energy and strength; 3 That thou appear not unto men to feast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly with speed and agility.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where weight bends your back, and where your heart yearns to defend: 5 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, so your back remain straight, and your mind remain clear: 6 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be watchful, thy whole body shall be full of light. 8 But if thine eye be wandering, thy whole body shall fall to darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be not turned to the darkness, how great is that darkness!

Therefore I say unto you, Take thought for your life, what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink; and yet for your body, what ye shall put on. 10 Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
