Chapter 85: The dangerous leaven

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, No.

And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side. 4 And when his warriors were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

In the mean time, nearby there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of the risen, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his warriors first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is despair.

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

Do ye not remember the five loaves I purchased before we left?

How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

And one of the company said unto him, Master, lean on my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 12 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a bully or thug for you? 13 And he said unto them, Take up a sword, and forget thy brother: for a man's life must be protected above the things which he possesseth.
