And when the day was now far spent, his warriors came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the risen draw near: 2 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves wine to drink and gather weapons for defense..
He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to drink and defend.
And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of wine, and give them sticks as weapons?
He saith unto them, How much water have ye, and how many swords? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five cups of true water, and two swords.
And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. 7 And they sat down in ranks like soldiers, by hundreds, and by fifties.
And when he had taken the five cups and the two swords, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and divided the wine, and gave them to his warriors to set before them; and the two swords distributed he among them all.
And they did all drink, and were refreshed. 10 And they took up each man a sword. 11 And they that did drink and arm themselves destroyed about five thousand of the risen.
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world for our defense.
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a warlord, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
