Chapter 58: Parable of the sword

The Bacon Gospels -- Buy 'em!

1 Ye are the defenders of the world. A city that is walled on an hill cannot be breached.

2 Neither do men forge a sword, and put it under a bushel, but in a sheath; and it protect all that are in the house.

3 Let your sword so shine before men, that they may follow your good works, and defend the creations of your Father which is in heaven.

4 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

5 Take heed therefore how ye prepare: for whosoever hath, to him all shall be preserved; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even his very life.

6 And he said, So is the power of God, as if a man should many times push himself up from the ground; 7 And should sleep exhausted, and repeat night and day, and the muscles of his chest and arms spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 8 For the earth bringeth forth strength of herself; first the arms, then the chest, after that the full body. 9 But when the strength is brought forth, immediately he pulleth out the sword, because the battle is at hand.
