Chapter 37: Curing and destroying in Capernaum

1 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 2 But Simon's wife's mother, having been scratched, lay sick of the infection, and anon they tell him of her. 3 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

4 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were infected, and them that were risen and captured. 5 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 6 And he healed many that were sick of dark diseases, and crushed out many shamblers; and suffered not the shamblers to act, because they knew him. 7 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses, but suffered only the living to live.

8 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side, to leave more room for defense.
